LAURA GINN
I have utilized my body as a tool, exploring an immediate connection between the self and the physical world. With photography and video I document my continued attempts at this ad-hoc crash course in self-reliance. As the investigation unfolds it continually builds on itself until a comprehensive system for survival has been achieved.

Sometimes the exploration is concrete and documentary, at other times it strays into the fantasy of huntress and adventurer. Historical allusion and contemporary references come together to form a framework for analyzing the American relationship to self-reliance and the physical world.

Laura earned an MFA in photography from Cranbrook Academy of Art. Her work is included in private collections in the United States and abroad. A native of Southeastern Michigan, Laura recently relocated to Brooklyn, NY
