Curtis Photographs
Utilizing the aesthetic language of Edward S. Curtis, (a photographer who spent decades documenting the North American Indian or “vanishing race” during the late nineteenth and early twentieth century), this series remarks on the romanticism and myth of achieving total self-reliance. At the same time placing this investigation within the historical tradition of photographic surveys of people, places and ways of life.
